5/7/08 - Hanna is pending adoption.

5/2/08 - Hanna was seen today by the dermatologist to perform an allergy test she was good as gold during the procedure! She also gained 6 pounds in 3 weeks and is now weighing in at 60 pounds. ( we are going to try to get her to 65) Hanna is allergic to everything that humans are, house dust, mites, weeds etc. She will need to be on allergy medication as a result in order to maintain the allergies at bay and to stop her from itching. The procedure starts out at 1 shot every week and then slowly weaning down to hopefully one shot a month.  We will continue to bulk up Hanna and she now looks forward to an itch free life!

4/16/08 - Hanna seems to be putting on weight as the days go on. The dermatologist is not concerned with her allergies as he thinks they are seasonal; instead he wants to see her gain some weight. So...in the morning Hanna has scrambled eggs in with her 2 cups of dry food (some mornings we use plain yogurt for some variety) at dinner time she gets pasta in with her other 2 cups of dry food (some nights it is mashed potatoes) She has no complaints! She almost inhales the bowl. She seems to be filling out nicely but we wont know her weight until we go back to the dermatologist on May 1 for her skin test. She is also getting some peanut butter spread on her milk bones at night before bed time. On top of this we go for a 20-35 minute walk almost everynight, she really looks forward to that. Her and my maltese are the best of friends. Although Bailey wants to play more than Hanna, she will sometimes run around with him for about 3 minutes and than she is done. Bailey is happy with that. All in all Hanna continues to do well here, and her personality is still unchanged, she is still sweet and lovable no matter what the situation.

4/7/08 - Hanna's test results all came back negative! We were so relieved, thanks to everyone who had her in their prayers. The next step we are going to take is to try and change Hanna's diet to a food that offers more protein and calories. The dermatologist does tend to think that Hanna's allergies are more seasonal as opposed to food, so he is not too concerned with changing her diet. She will go to be allergy tested on May 1. We will let you know how she continues to progress, and I will be updating her pictures soon as well.

4/6/08 - Hanna was seen by the dermatologist yesterday, however no allergy testing was performed. Instead, more blood work and a urinalysis was done. It seems that Hanna's excessive weight loss (almost 10lbs. in less than 2 months) could be many different things, kidney disease, diabetes, cancer. We have upped her food intake by another cup, she is now eating 5 cups a day, with no problems but no weight will stay on her body. She drinks excessively an EASY 4-5 big bowls of water a day, if there is water in it she will drink it till its empty. We will get the results from Hanna's work this week, and I will be sure to update. Hanna still remains as sweet as she was the day we got her.
Always wiggling when you get home from work and happy to see you. Her personality has not changed at all! Please keep her in your prayers.

3/22/08 - Tomorrow is Hanna's birthday, she will be 6! (It is also Easter!) So she will have a lot to do and a lot of new toys to play with!
When Hanna was surrender to BAR we were told that she was not a dog that would go on the furniture.....she does. I have caught her on my couch twice just lounging as if she was doing nothing wrong. And once today she jumped up there when she heard a noise outside to look out the window. She does respond well to a no, and  get down.
She still has not let out any noise, no growling, no barking, nothing not even when someone comes to the door. She loves to walk and spend time outside with the weather getting nicer out. She also seems to love men,  i mean she truly loves anyone who she meets but if a man and a women were in the same room she would be in the mans lap!
Hanna has a vet apt on April 5 to get allergy tested to see what exactly it is she is allergic too, other than that, things are going well in our home and Hanna definitely fits right in. I will update after the vet. Happy Easter!

3/6/08 - As you can see by the new pictures Hanna had her first bath since arriving at our home. She was very well behaved through the whole process, despite wanting to lick everything she did not mind. She also went for her first nice long walk a couple of days ago, she was also very well mannered to all the people that approached her. We walked past the park and all the kids had run over to pet her and she loved it. She stood there nicely and let everyone get a turn. I will continue to walk her more often now as the weather seems to be getting warmer.
Hanna also has a dermatologist appointment scheduled for the beginning of April we are hoping that they will be able to find what she is allergic to so that we can make her less itchy.

2/26/08 - Hanna has been in our home for 10 days now and she has not had ANY accidents! She does goes in her cage while my husband and I are at work but she really does not need to be caged. She is not destructive at all, no chewing, counter surfing etc. She goes in her cage willingly now because she knows once the door is closed behind her she will get a treat! Hanna continues to follow you throughout the house she is like your shadow. She still has not barked or shown any enjoyment in rough housing or playing she much rather just be sitting next to you. She loves my husband and her boxer wiggles show through every time he walks in the door! Her original owners had to give Hanna up due to some missionary work they will be doing in South Africa, I am sure if it wasn't for that Hanna surely would still be with them as she is perfect. She gets along well with other dogs of all sizes, and absolutely loves her big rawhide dog bone!

2/23/08 - Hanna was seen by the vet today and she did great! The vet couldn't get over how well behaved she was. Hanna does have a heart murmur but that was not a concern to the vet. Her allergies seem to be doing ok except for her one ear, from her constantly shaking her head she has developed a pocket inside her ear flap where blood is stored that she had to have drained today. The vet said there is a 50-50 chance that having it drained will fix the problem. Should it come back we will look into other options. Having this procedure today did not dampen Hanna's spirit at all, she was a gem through the whole thing! We will keep you updated on her condition. Everyday with Hanna is a joy, she truly is one of the best mannered dogs I have ever met!

2/21/08 - Hanna's appetite has grown in the past couple of days since we brought her home. She has no problem eating her 4 cups of food (2 times a day) now. She will even eat my other dogs food if I am not
there to tell her No. Hanna does well with a soft words as opposed to harsh speaking, she tends to get insulted if you are speak too harshly to her.  A simple No, or go lay down, gets a better response from her. She does have allergies that the previous owner thought were from food, we are waiting on getting her into see a vet for further examination. The allergies do not seem to affect her personality in any way!

2/20/08 - Hanna continues to do well here, she loves to be around people and will follow you where ever you go! We have yet to hear her bark I think that is because she is so laid back, she just wants to lie on her bed with her rawhide. She walks well on a leash and knows all of her commands. She met my 4 year old niece and Hanna was so sweet with her, she did not jump or knock her over she moved very gently around her, she was wonderful!

2/17/08 - Hanna is doing wonderful, she has only been with us a couple of hours but has made her self right at home, she already knows where the "goody" draw is! She has the most gentle soul and is so well mannered. She is not too much of a "player" but instead would rather you pet her for hours. She is great with my Maltese and keeps herself occupied on her dog bed with her bones. Loves to give kisses, and is wonderful with children.
