1/17/12 - My last boxer passed away about 3 weeks ago of congestive heart failure at the age of 12.5 yrs. He was the best dog I have ever owned...perfect from the day he came home as a puppy...sweet, friendly, didn't chew on anything, house trained quickly, was great with dogs, cats, and people of all ages...no one could have asked for a better boy than my Koda Bear (Dakota)...picture attached of his last hike with me at the age of 11.5yrs. I still shed tears for him but try hard to remember the good times we had together. I have so missed having a boxer in my home so I decided to meet gary at the Kennel last weekend and visit Murphy. And so a new chapter begins in my life... I know he has been there for a very long time so wanted to get to know him and get some feed back from Eddie (the trainer) to see if he thought Murphy would do well with me. He brought him out, we did some work with him and so now I have some great news to share. ...Murphy came home with me that day...I just couldn't leave him behind. He slept all the way home in the back of the sub on a nice comfy blanket...sat up two times..once when I stopped to get gas and the second when we got home. I brought him in and let him have the house to himself for a while then proceeded to introduce him to a couple of my dogs...all went off without a hitch. He had 2 leg lifts and with a couple of firm corrections he has now been perfect. He met all of my gang (6 small dogs) and is doing well with all of them...great with myself and my nephew. He saw my cat last night for the first time and stared for a moment but with redirection he forgot all about her and went on his merry way and today ignores her. I know this is all new and he will settle in and change some but I have to say he is a perfect dog right now...I am sad he spent so much time in the kennel but focusing on his future with me. Right now it is a foster to adopt situation but I can't see myself not adopting this awesome dog. He is a bit on the thin side so working on putting weight on..he is sooo beautiful...I just love him. I have attached some photos. I am hoping that someone reading Murphy's story will
step up and help Brandy..I feel she could be just as amazing of a
dog for some wonderful family....please consider her...Gary has had
a couple of people asking questions but nothing firm yet...so please
don't hesitate...you could be missing out on a wonderful dog like so
many missed out on my Murphy.
1/16/12 - Here is a new video of Murphy in his new foster home:
1/15/12 - Murphy has been moved to a new foster home. Here is
her first update: Murphy has been sweet as pie...he does love the
couch.. I am constantly telling him "OFF". He waits till I am
on the computer with my back to him the very quietly sneaks up
there. 9/10 - Unfortunately Murphy did not work out in his new home and is now at the trainer. His previous foster home would gladly take him back, but he has another foster at this time. Hopefully he will get back to his foster home soon. 5/27/10 - It took about a half hour after we got home for this pup to show that he is a lover and wants to be where you are. He was scared to be taken away from his step father, but he took it like a champ. You can tell all the hard work his step father did and his friends at BAR because he is such a great addition to our family. He is such an energetic fireball and reminds me of how his older brother use to be at that age...something I missed. His older brother Valynn was a bit unsure of sharing time with mom and his house, but true love has shown through and both lay at my feet after playing tag outside. Valynn at age 7 is not nearly as fast as he use to be, but he eventually catches up. You can tell Murphy was well trained because he knows all the commands of "sit", "paw", "stay", and "down". I think he may also know "leave it". He just had to really trust us to show how smart he is. ,,He went to see a trainer on Tuesday 5/25 and she was amazed how good he was. I think I was amazed at how well he rides in the car. I never had a pup that would just lay down the whole time without wanting to look out a window. ,,Yesterday the cat had unexpectedly opened the door to the kitchen where Murphy was and they locked eyes....Kit_kat's tail fluffed up and Murphy just stared at her. Nothing happened.....but before something would...I made sure the door stayed shut......for now. ,,Murphy was introduced to my turtles and really didn't know what to make of them. It was the funniest thing yet. Everytime they moved Murphy's head tilted to one side than the other....trying to figure out what the heck they were. After a sniff or two....he lost interest and went back to just watching what I was doing. ,,Murphy is put into the crate during those times when I am not home and he is learning to settle down and "stay" with the door open until he calms down, than he is allowed to say hello. Murphy is learning patience....which is not as hard as I thought, but just takes time and patience from me. We are learning more and more about each other everyday. And everyday I find there is more to love. 5/22/10 - Murphy has been adopted 5/5/10 - Murphy has been doing great he loves to be outside. He is very happy when I come home and he gets to run and play with his ball. He would be good either with other dogs or by himself but needs to get lots of exercise. He is always looking out the window and watches for people or other animals walking by. He lets you know even if he hears a noise. He likes to sleep either by his foster sisters or my 2 guys. He listens great and has not had any problems being in his cage for 5- 8 hrs at a time. He does neesd someone that wont let him get away with anything ( strong Leadership). 3/26/10 - Ok Murphy has been doing great here He loves his new foster sister and when told to be gentle with her he is. He goes and checks while she is asleep to make sure everything is fine. He loves to cuddle and is a really big fan of the ladies he always wiggles his way in between my guys to get some attention. He loves to run and play with a basketball in the back yard. Sometimes I can just look at him and he will sit. He is always the first to sit when it is treat time and has no problem giving up his paw. He loves when he comes in from the rain and I dry him off with a towell. Come on Murph is here just waiting to give his forever home ALL his love and Boxer wiggles!!!!!! 1/24/10 - Murphy has been doing great he spends time in his crate while I am at work and has no problems with it. He is full of energy and loves to run and play with the other pups in the yard and he loves his basketball. If you have some time to spend with him and a strong hand you cant get soft with him this is the pup for you. Murph is just waiting for the perfect forever home for him
11/30/09 -
What a difference a few days and some TLC makes!!! Wow,
J we saw Murphy again last weekend, and
did the intros with Gentle
Ben & Murphy. Besides looking GREAT, after only a week, Murphy
also did great meeting his new little friend. J
11/30/09 - Ok Murphy has still been being a good house guest no accidents in the house. He loves to be outside and play he is always the last one to come in LOL. He has been eating really good. He would love to go for long walks possible even jog with you. He needs a strong leader to keep in check you can't be lazy with this boy. He is a really good looking dog very smart and will be a big boy. He gets along great with all the new fosters that have been here and we have had a house full. He is still looking for that special family to call his own and give them all his love for the holidays. 11/18/09 - Ok so this BAD boy came to stay with us Saturday afternoon and has been liking his new life but would really LOVE to have a home to call his own!!!!!! He is a really sweet pup and is looking to love and be loved. He does need a strong hand and has been doing really well. He loves to run in the back yard with a toy and and my 2 guys. He comes in the house and finds a toy and flips it around and keeps himself amused. He also know when it is time to settle down. The first couple of night he would lay at my feet in front of the couch on the floor but now he wezzels his way up on the couch and snuggled up next to my guy. He does always want to know where I am. LOL He does bark when someone or something strange goes by the house. He has had some minor accidents in the house but has been getting better. He slept in his crate last night with the door open all night with no problems. Come on Murph would really like to spend the holidays with his forever family!!!!!!! He is going to be a great dog!!!!!!
