6/24/11 - Mya is pending adoption!! 4/16/11 - Mya had a really big day yesterday and did great! I believe that she is now all over her car sickness. Mya absolutely loves to ride in the car and hasn't gotten sick in along time. Last night I went to a high school baseball game, about a half hour away each trip. She not only rode in the car perfectly, but was perfect at the game as well. Everyone thought she was a beautiful, well behaved dog. Mya sat at my feet and just relaxed while I talked with parents and watched the game. She has really turned into a great dog. Get those applications in, she will make you very happy! 3/14/11 - Mya continues to do great here! No real update on her. As the weather starts to warm up, Mya starts to get more and more active. She can't wait until there is no more snow on the ground so she can run around in the fields for hours. Until then, Mya likes to head to my basement and run and play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ak4SGpISU8c 2/21/11 - Mya had a trip to the vet today to get a check-up and her yearly vaccinations. Overall she did great and is perfectly healthy! Everyone in the vet's office just loved Mya and thought she was just the cutest! Besides her check-up being great, Mya hated being at the vet. She gets very nervous and afraid and didn't want anything else but to hide in my lap or under my chair. She gets very stressed out with the trip to the vet, but eventually she settled down and allowed the doctor to administer the shots. I am happy to report that Mya does not seem to be getting sick in the car anymore. It seems like she is no longer over stressed with car trips (knock on wood) and hasn't gotten sick in a long time. As I continue to report, Mya is just a perfect dog and is really wondering why no one wants her. Fill out those applications to take this beautiful girl home today! 2/10/11 - Hey guys, Mya here. Just a quick update...My foster brother Bones is pretty sick. He has been to the doctor twice this week and is on medicine. Bones told me the doctor had to take some blood and run a lot of tests. He even told me that he might end up on more medicine. I feel bad for my brother, I really hope he is ok and can get better. I've been spending most of my days and night snuggling with him in bed and giving him all of my love to try and help. I know right now my dad has his hands full trying to get Bones better so I have been on my best behavior. Well that's about all from here. Everyone hope that my brother gets better, and get in those applications so I can get a forever home! 2/1/11 I had to head out of town last weekend for a family function and left Mya and her FB Bones behind with a friend. Mya did great being with someone else for the weekend! She was a perfect little girl and when I returned home, she made sure I rewarded her for it! Like I've been saying, Mya is just a perfect little girl. She is a small girl who would love to do nothing but curl up next to you all day long. She loves to run and play and have fun and can just be goofy at times. She gets excited when I come home, her tail wags about a mile a minute! Please get those applications in and take home this beautiful girl today! 1/20/11 - As Mya continues to spend more time with me and her FB Bones I learn more and more about her. While Mya is a tiny girl and gets cold very easily, she loves to play out in the snow. Mya will attempt to catch snowballs thrown her way. She also love to chomp on the snow as we go walking in the parks.,Another thing I learned about Mya is that she loves to play soccer. I have a ball in my backyard and Mya would play for hours if she could. She uses her front two paws just like a soccer player would use their legs. She is smart and knows how to steal the ball away, and can even dribble around the yard! I can also kick the ball and she will chase it down and bring it back, sometimes carrying it in her mouth.,This girl is truly something special and anyone would be incredibly lucky to have her. She is the most affectionate, sweet and loving dog I have ever met; but at the same time would make a great watch dog. She knows who is supposed to be in my house or yard, and if she doesn't recognize them, Mya lets them know it. If she could, Mya would curl up next to you or on your lap and sleep all day long. I don't understand why it has been a full year and no one has wanted to scoop this precious girl up and take her away forever. She will make anyone incredibly happy! 12/17/10 - I got my Christmas tree up a little while ago and both Mya and her foster brother Bones seem to be a bit confused as to why there is a tree in the house. They are both very good about not messing with it though! Mya is wondering why no one wants to take her away and give her a forever home for Christmas. This little girl is just the best and deserves that forever home to love her! Get those applications in and get the perfect gift this holiday season. She will no doubt put a smile on your face everyday and warm your heart. Do the same for her. 11/30/10 - As the days grow shorter and the temp drops Mya becomes less and less interested in heading outside. She is such a tiny girl that she gets cold very easily. Mya would much rather curl up under a blanket and be nice and toasty! Mya will also jump on my bed in the middle of the night and try to get under my covers to warm up as well. Mya would much rather be too hot than too cold, and when she warms up she turns bright pink, but doesn't come out from under the blanket. Check out her new pictures to the right. 11/29/10 - Mya continues to be the perfect house guest. As the holidays approach Mya continues to hope for that forever home to take her away and give her the best gift of all. Mya's foster brother has a trainer come and work with him on some issues developed before he was adopted. Mya benefits from this training as well, and is proving just how smart she is. Mya picks up on new things extremely fast and is very treat driven. If she knows she will be rewarded she will do whatever you want.,Hurry and get those applications in for a beautiful girl that will melt anyones heart for the holidays. She truly would be the best gift for anyone. 11/1/10 - Mya continues to be a perfect house guest! She is such a caring and loyal dog. All Mya really wants to do is curl up on the couch next to me or hang out with me while I do house work. Mya loves human contact, it is hard to believe that she was once a stray! As the temperatures begin to drop Mya is less and less excited to go outside. She is such a small girl that she gets cold easily, even at night. I have to cover her with a blanket at night or else she will get on the bed with me and try and get under mine. Mya will make anyone extremely happy. She will continue to wait for that forever home to come and take her away. 9/28/10 - Mya has become such an incredible companion! Her favorite thing to do is curl up in any space she can find next to me. Mya loves attention and affection. She would lay on the couch curled up with me all day if I let her. She is such a sweet dog and has really come out of her shell since I got her. Mya and Bones now play on a regular basis, and when she gets going it can be pretty funny. She jumps around like a little kangaroo! Mya also loves to chew on bones. I don't make her use her kennel anymore, but I left it up becuase she takes her bones inside and will chew on them for what seems like hours. Yesterday I took Mya to Petsmart for the first time as a little test. She did excellent. She saw other dogs there and simply ignored them. Mya was probably a bit overwhelmed with all the new smells, but was really good. She even got some complements from employees and shoppers! Mya will make anyone incredibly happy. She always knows how to cheer me up and put a smile on my face. She is just a loving dog and will do anything to please me. 8/29/10 - In the past couple days there have been some pretty significant steps made with Mya. Both Thursday and Friday May was left out of her cage while I was at work, 8 hours, and did excellent! She did not get into anything or cause any problems. Both days when I returned she was laying down waiting like a good girl.,then when I was walking Mya and Bones the other night Mya proved to me that she would be good with kids of any age. I stop to talk with a friend of mine and both of his kids came up to pet Mya and she did great! She was friendly and receptive to everyone. I think that when Mya first meets a new person she should be on her leash, she is better behaved and you can be in control of her. After that initial meeting, Mya is good and doesn't need to be on a leash. She is patiently waiting for that perfect home, so get those applications and get come this sweet girl! 8/17/10 - Mya has been doing great since her last update! She is slowly transitioning away from her cage. She no longer sleeps in her cage at night and has learned that she is to sleep in her own bed at night. Mya now spends the whole night in her bed without making a peep! I am also letting her have free range of the house for short periods of time. I am slowly increasing this time, and so far there have been no problems. Mya has also become super playful with my resident boxer Bones. She has learned how to play nicely and now is the one who starts most of the time. Check out some new videos of Mya:,,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H_ONDwiGH4,,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2g1Fx3UlMs&feature=related 7/15/10 - So we have been a little bad and we let Mya come sit on the couch with us, or jump up on our bed and lay with us. She loves to snuggle right up next to you, and when you look at her face it is too hard to say no. However, when she is told to get down she listens and gets off the couch right away. ,She is also learning that when we are eating that she has to leave us alone. If we tell her to go lay down, first she will try the couch, but when we say no Mya heads right to her keenel and lays in her bed. She likes it in there and will go in there to chew a bone, or just lay down. She also goes right in without a fight when we tell her to go to her cage.,Mya is a very sweet and pretty girl patiently waiting for that forever home to come calling. She will make any home extremely happy. 7/4/10 - Mya loves sticks! She can be entertained for hours with one stick. Mya will chase after a stick, jump to get it out of my ands or just sit in the grass and chew on it. ,We have been taking our 2 boxers along with Mya to some trails around our house recently and Mya loves it. She does great on the leash and loves to be out in the woods and just walk. We let our boxers run off leash through the woods, but Mya needs to remain on hers. If she sees any animal she would take off after it trying to catch it. Mya has also greatly improved in riding in the car. We can't remember the last time she got sick. We have not tested her for long car rides, but she seems more comfortable and relaxed. Mya is a very sweet, intelligent and goofy dog. She will bring so much joy and laughter to her forever family! 6/23/10 - Not a whole lot new with Mya. We have been gradually letting her stay out of her kennel longer and longer when we leave the house. Everything seems to be fine every time we come home! Now that the weather has gotten much nicer, Mya loves to be outside. She enjoys laying on our brick patio in the sun. Mya has also learned to roll on her back and show her belly waiting for a rub anytime we come home. She is such a smart dog and knows how to be extra sweet to get our attention. 4/22/10 - Mya has come a long way since our last update. She is now beginning to play with our resident boxers. Her body language is more relaxed and she seems to enjoy playing with them. We also take our dogs to a local softball field and let them run free. Mya loves it! She loves to run and roll around in the grass. She also walks well on a leash.,Mya continues to sleep through the night in her crate without any problems. We also leave her in the create if we will be out of the house for an extended period. Mya likes to sit and look out the window or just lay around on the couch. She is really becoming an excellent dog! 3/17/10 - Mya is doing great. I can't imagine why someone wouldn't want her. She comes on command. She sits on command about 90% of the time, especially when treats are involved. Her favorite thing to do is chew a bone. A good meaty bone that takes a long time to eat is what she most enjoys. She is very smart and eager to please. She looks at us to always check in and make sure she is doing the right thing. She likes to hear "good girl" or get a nod of approval. She still counter surfs on rare occasions and a simple "get down" usually does the trick. She walks well on a leash and only needs a few corrections. She is perfectly content being near us no matter what we are doing. She LOVES to hide herself under the covers and cuddle. When you peak to check and make sure she's breathing her whole face is pink and she's all toasty warm. She's curious about everything and scared of nothing. With our resident boxers she is learning to play. Most of the time though, she will just sit in her chair and watch. It's almost like she's thinking to herself, "Here go these rambunctious boys again....weirdos". It's funny. Sometimes I swear she knows what I'm saying to her. Her eyes and ears are so expressive and she just wants to be loved. Mya is patiently waiting for her forever home. She's a fabulous companion. Don't hesitate to get your applications in for this loving little girl. 3/2/10 - Nothing really all that new with Mya. She is still very sweet around humans. She is perfectly content to crawl in your lap or under the covers with you and just sleep. Mya continues to get better with our resident boxers, but still acts up at times. Mya sleeps perfectly through the night in her cage and will go in on command without a fight. She is patiently waiting here for her forever home to come and pick her up. 2/17/10 - Mya continues to settle in very nicely here. As we have said, she is extremely smart and has learned her commands. She will still put her two front paws on the counter, or climb on the couch or bed, but listens when we tell her to get down. Mya would love to be able to lay on the couch or bed with us whenever she could if we let her. She loves to curl up with you and nuzzle her way under any blankets and just sleep with you. Mya really is a great dog. She is still young and has lots of energy, but knows when to calm down and relax. Mya loves a good walk too, but needs a coat since she is so small and it is so cold out. Mya is patiently waiting for that forever home, someone who will just love her and want to snuggle with her all night long! Get your applications in for this cute little girl. 2/11/10 - Last night Mya went for her wellness check up at the Vet. The appointment was great and the Dr. said that Mya is a perfect little girl with no problems. Everyone in the office commented on how cute she looked too. Mya was pretty nervous while we were in the office. We believe it was because she spent 3 weeks in a shelter and she thought she was getting dropped off their again. She settled down after a while, but was glad when we were out the door and headed home. Mya is getting better about riding in the car. We are trying to take her on shorter trips and gradually work our way longer. Mya doesn't get sick everytime she is in the car now and is starting to relax and lay down to enjoy the ride. Mya has setteled in very nicely with us. She is a very smart girl and has picked up on the training we are giving her very nicely. She is going to make someone very happy and can not wait to find that forever home where she can curl up and snuggle with someone and just be loved. 2/3/10 - We have decided to call Precious, Mya. She responds well to it, but that's no surprise because she is VERY smart. I swear sometimes she looks at us and knows exactly what we are talking about. She has such inquisitive eyes that are full of expressions. She is eager to please (if only she knew what we were really saying). That's why it is imperative for her forever home to have a consistent leader. She's a great sleeper and she is fully crate trained. Since Sunday there have been no further accidents in the house, so I think she was just unsure of her unfamiliar environment., She has a voice and is playful with our boxer Rowdy and with us. She's a comedian and is very curious, especially in the kitchen. This little girl loves to chew on bones and squeaky toys. It's so funny to see her bounce around the house when she is trying to play. Mya will be a great companion in her forever home as well as a constant source of entertainment. All she needs is a warm, loving home, lots of exercise and people to call her own. 2/1/10 - Precious has been with us for two days now and she seems to be settling in nicely. We have also learned a great deal about Precious in these two days. She does not mind the crate at all. She will go in without any problems and does not put up a fuss when we leave the room and she is still in there. She is still a bit shy and timid towards men, but seems to be opening up a little. We do not know if she likes to ride in the car or not. When she was transported up from NYC, around a 3 hour trip, she got sick 3 times. We first thought it was because of nerves. But last night, driving only 30 minutes to my parents she got sick, both on the way there and back. We are hoping she is still nervous about the car and that this doesn't happen all the time. We don't believe Precious knows her name. She does not respond when we try using "Precious", so we are thinking of trying a different name. We have also learned that she doesn't seem to have a lot of training. She likes to jump up on people as well as the counters and furniture. She also does not know many commands; she comes with we say "Come" and sits probably 50% of the time when asked. When she does sit, she understands what "stay" means, but if you do not tell her to stay, she won't. We are working on that and we believe that if we stay consistent with our commands and training she will be over this very fast. ,,We also do not know if she is fully housebroken. She has had two accidents in the house so far. Since our boxer, Rowdy, is incontinent he needs to go outside a lot to do his business, we think house training Precious will be faily easy. Precious seems to be a very smart girl and we believe she will pick up on the training very quickly. Besides that she is a great girl. She is extremely cute and when she is tired she likes to curl up by you. She has a lot of energy and needs daily exercise. Precious is full of curiousity and will follow you around just to see what you are doing. Stay tuned for more on this girl, along with updated pictures.
1/30/10 - Precious arrived today after a trip from NYC. The
pictures do not do this girl any justice. She is much cuter in person,
stay tuned for new pictures soon. First impressions of Precious are
that she is a little timid right now but VERY curious about everything.
She wants to smell every crack in the house and the yard.,She walks
pretty well on the leash, although because of the freezing temps today
we didn't go on any long walks. We will continue to evaluate her as the
days progress. She does have a tendency to jump, on people and the
counter. This will be something that needs consistency and work. She
currently isn't responding to "Precious" so we aren't sure if she knows
her name or not. More to come later as we get to know Precious. |
