BOXERS NEEDING FOSTER HOMES

We always seem to have more dogs needing help than we have foster homes.  So we have decided start a new section on our web site with posting of Boxers who are in need of foster homes.  They may still be in cold damp high kill shelters or we may have moved them to a temporary kenneling facility just to get them out of a shelter.  If you are an approved home waiting for the "right" dog or have adopted from us previously (You will not have to go through the adoption process again, you will only have to update us on any information that may have changed since you first adopted.) and see a dog below that you think you might be willing to foster, please email us at:  boxerangelsdirectors@yahoo.com and we will get back to you ASAP.
If you have not filled out an application yet, please click HERE to go to our Adoption Application and we will process your application ASAP.

JAKE  SR. - 10 1/2 Year Old Male - Has found a foster home! Visit his web page for Updates

This boys name is Jake. I was told about Jake by one of the volunteers who works for the shelter, and remembered we pulled Tyson from them a short time ago, and ended up a very lucky boy as he was adopted by the Seymour's. Jake needs some sort of luck too. He is 10 1/2 yrs old and as you can see from the pics, a well maintained boy who is looking for help. At first i was told the family brought him in with a euthanasia request because he was old....how sad is that...god :o(( The intake form has a notation that there was a death in the family and they were moving, and Jake could not go. Whatever the reason, Jake finds himself in a kill shelter, after being a devoted family member for 10 1/2 yrs, and he NEEDS HELP!  The intake form taken at this shelter is quite complimentary to Jake....he is already neutered, UTD with his vaccinations, lived with adult men and women, children from newborn thru adult is friendly, playful, tolerant, accepts strangers, no aggressive tendencies, fed with people present (no feed aggression), totally house trained, walks well on leash, left alone 8 hrs a day, was exercised 3 times a week, was walked 1 1/2 miles, slept in his own bed, does not chew anything he is not supposed to, does not chase anything, knows sit, come and stay, and they noted he has a bit of arthritis and a sensitive stomach.

I guess the only negative I could find on this boy is that it said he is not good with other animals.

I took Jake out for a walk in their enclosed area, and he did very well. He walked beautifully, no pulling at all. I asked him to sit, and he did not, so i helped him into the sit position. He was a bit stiff, he went down but you could see that my assisting him into the sit position...well, he was a bit stiff, but he did sit. He really did very well, and was in very good shape (maybe a bit on the chunky side, but not too much) and defiantly enjoyed his walk. I enjoyed his company a lot too.

I was pulling a 1 yr old deaf Boston terrier that day for another rescue, so I got to bring that wild child out to meet Jake, and see how he would do with this youngster. In typical puppy fashion, the little guy was right up in his face, paws on Jake's head (we were being careful if we needed to break anything up) paws on Jake's side, paws everywhere....and Jake was fine. Now granted, Jake did not play with him like he was his long lost friend, but he tolerated what this boy threw his way, so I would say that with proper intro's, Jake would most likely be fine with other dogs.

Jake needs to get out of there, while this is not a shelter that would rush to put him to sleep, the fact is that he has a VERY slight chance of getting adopted by someone from the public, and needs BAR to  get him started on his new life. Like I said early in this email, he needs his very own angel.

Please email me if you think you are that angel. The rescue will provide you with EVERYTHING you need, crate, food, toys, bowls, bedding, vet care...everything at no cost to you, you just provide the warm house and the love.
