8/28/10 - Sam is in need of a foster home who is in a position to give him more of what he needs.....structure, and boundaries.

7/28/10 - Sam has been moved to a trainer in PA for evaluation and work on his manners and training.

6/16/10 - Sam continues to do well and his manners are improving every day.  He is learning more commands and is getting better at not charging the door when someone goes outside.  We beleive that Sam may have spent most of his time outside before coming to us because he really enjoys being outside and will stay out for hours without making a fuss.  Sam also likes car rides and is very well behaved when riding in the car.  Sam sometimes goes to the state park to walk on the trails, he is very excited at first but will calm down and walk quite welll on the leash after awhile.  He still gets very excited by cats and small animals but is improving.  Sam is very loving and is looking for a forever family that likes activity and being outdoors as well as relaxing after a fun day.

5/26/10 - Sam is doing okay except that he thinks that he should go out every time that we do. I am having a difficult time trying to keep him in when we leave to go to work or just to go out side. Sam wants  to be with you all the time. Sam will just sneck when the door. I know that there is a forever home that can give Sam the love and the time that he deserves.

5/19/10 - Sam continues to do well as he awaits his forever home.  He is doing really well with other dogs but is so so with the cat.  Some days he ignors him other days he will chase him and want to play, the cat wants no part of it.  Sam's favorite place to be now that the weather is nice is outside and he will try to sneak out whenever someone opens the door.  We are working on this and Sam is learning that he will go out only when the leash is attached.  Sam is a good learner and I'm sure he will catch on very quickly.  When outside Sam loves to run and he is really fast.  In the evenings Sam is content just to relax, he thinks that he is a big lap dog at times.  Sam is a very happy dog who loves to be with and please everyone.

5/2/10 - Sam continues to do well and improve as he awaits his forever home.  His overal behavior and interaction with dogs and cats has improved greatly since his arrival here.  Sam gets along great with everyone and enjoys doing whatever his family is doing.  If you want to run around the yard, he will run around the yard.  If you want to go for a walk, he will go for a walk.  Or if you just want to sit back and relax he will lay at your feet.  Sam is very mellow and very content.  Sam is just waiting to make some special family very happy.

4/17/10 - Sam continues to do well here and is etting along quite well with his boxer sister.  He enjoys going on hikes at the local state park and then needs to spend the rest of the day sleeping.  Sam has a great appetite, has gained some weight and is looking great.  He has meet some other dogs and after the initial excitement does ok with them.  Sam likes to jump up to people when he first meets them but will settle down after a few minutes we are working on this and he is making improvements.  We have made some progress with the cat as well.  Sam no longer chases the cat but will walk up to it and look at it.  A small hiss from the cat and Sam will walk away.  Sam is very affectionate and really enjoys being wherever people are.  Sam is a great companion who continues to look for his forever family.

4/6/10 - Sam has recovered nicely from his surgery to remove his growth and being neutered.  Sam is walking really well on the leash and he loves to be outside.  He also loves to ride in the car and does really well even on long rides.  He is getting along very well with our boxer but still need work with cats, he is improving with the cats but still has a way to go.  I belive he is just curious and would like to play with them because he really likes to play with toys.  Sam gets really excited when meeting new people but calms down very quickly.  For all his energy at the end of the day he just wants to lay on the rug at your feet.  He loves to have his ears, neck and head rubbed.  All in all Sam is a great companion who loves to be with people no matter what they are doing.

3/30/30 - Sam had a suspicious lump removed from his left pelvic limb last week.  The biopsy results came back as grade 2 mast cell tumor.  Anyone adopting Sam would just have to keep an eye out for any new lumps (like we do with all our lumpy, bumpy boxers).  The vet was not concerned with the biopsy findings, but BAR feels that we must disclose all the information we have about each Boxer available for adoption.

3/23/10 - Sam really enjoyed the summerlike weather we had this past weekend.  Everyone was outside and Sam was there right along with us.  We put a stake in the yard and Sam has a 50 foot rope to run on. He was happy running or laying in the sun or shade.  He also took several walks on the leash and is doing very well.  Sam has made great progress with our female boxer and the now are best buddies.  They both have run of the house when we are home as well as overnight and there have been no problems.  We still crate him when no one is home and he does not have a problem with it.   I think we can change Sam's profile to say he is ok with other dogs. We are still working on Sam with cats, he is making progress but not there yet. Sam was at the vet today and weighed in at 59 pounds.  He is eating well and i am sure he will put on a few more needed pounds.  He has no food aggressions and he will share his food or let you take his bowl with no reaction.  Sam received a complete grooming at the vet today and was very well behaved throughout.  He was also nutered and had a cyst removed from his leg.  Our vet said Sam seems to be in great shape.  Sam shows his personality more and more each day.  He is very loving and loves to be around people and is a great companion.

3/15/10 - Sam has been here for a week now and is settling in nicely. He's been a real gentalmen. He seems to be getting along well with my boxer.  I am waiting to get Sam nutered  and checked out at our vet. This should take place soon. Sam still doesn't get along with my cat, that is something we are working on.  Sam is crated while we are at work and has the run of the house when we get home from work.  He has a good appitite and he is starting to play with the kong and ball that he has.  Sam is a unique dog and has a lot of love and kisses to give.

3/10/10 - Sam has been here for 5days now and he is starting to walk much better on the leash. Sam met our cat and did not go after it ,he just wanted to play with it. Sam is starting to show some improvment with my female boxer, but they cant be togehter yet. Sam is strong and playful. Sam has a good appitite and he goes out for a walk  with my female boxer every day for at least 60minutes a day . That does not include potty time.

3/8/10 - Sam has been here for three days now and after a rocky start is beginning to settle in.  The first thing you need to know about Sam is that he is very affectionate to people he will sit or lay on his back and let you rub his neck or belly until you tire out.  He likes to be around people and wants to be in the room you are in.  He really enjoys being outside although he does not walk very well on his leash.  Sam knows sit, down, will give you his paw and go into his create when asked.  He also will go into his create and lay down on his own when he wants to be by himself.  Sam had one accident in the house when he first arrived but has been fine since.  He spends nights and when no one is home in his create.  When we are home he is gated off from our other boxer because as of now they are not getting along very well.  We are working on this and there already seems to be some improvement.  Sam is learning to play nice with the resident dog and cat, but has a way to go before he will be allowed to meet them off leash, and although I don't think he would intentionally hurt them he a little more active than they are.  Sam would fit in right away in a one dog house but is going to need some work at playing with others.  He probably calm down a bit after he is neutered. This big mush is going to make some family very happy.
