described here do not adequately reflect the most important positions-those of the BAR volunteers who may
not hold a directing or coordinating position but who perform the essential duties essential to the Rescue operation. The BAR volunteers who
participate in CURs, who perform Home Visits, who pitch in to help with fundraising and
friendraising, and who care for foster dogs in their homes
are the most important component of this organization. Without our Boxer rescue angels, we are nothing, Please

Primary
manager of intake of shelter dogs and owner surrenders. Responsible
for all foster homes and dogs throughout the foster care continuum: works with
Director of Adoptions and Transports to coordinate
incoming dogs; determines placement of dogs in foster families and all decisions
concerning foster dogs, including medical and behavioral decisions and
re-placements when necessary; works with Director of Adoptions to determine best
forever family selection; is primary manager of foster families, including
communication, training,supplies, and management of all other positions within this department.

OPPORTUNITIES:
Foster Homes: Provides temporary, short-term care to incoming BAR foster Boxer dogs. Temperament tests dogs and provides regular evaluations, updates, and photos of the foster dog for its website page. May need to schedule and bring dog to veterinarian. Has phone conversations about dog with referred applicants. Allows adopting family into home to pick up dog and sign contract. Receives first update from new adopting family and shares it with applicable coordinators and directors. All approved medical expenses plus dog food paid for by BAR and some dog supplies provided by BAR. This volunteer opportunity is supported by the Director of Intake and Foster Care and Foster Home mentors. Foster homes belong to the BAR Foster E-group for additional support.
“Adopt
a Shelter” Volunteers: BAR is
always looking for volunteers to adopt a shelter in their area and develop
positive relationships by checking in regularly. We value good relationships
with shelters and other all-breed rescues, so that we are informed when they
have Boxers in need that they would like us to place.
This position is supported by a Shelter Liaison, who makes all of the
intake arrangements.

and
Transportation
Director of Adoptions
and
Transports:
OPEN
Primary
responsibility is working with applicants and adoptive
families, pre and post-adoption. Director decides on and arranges dog adoptions.

OPPORTUNITIES
Interviewers:
Call applicants to discuss our organization and adoption processes, and answer
their questions. Call their
references to confirm your assessment of their request to adopt one of our dogs.
File a report when application check is completed. This position is supported by
Associate Director of Adoptions. Applicants
pay for their own phone calls, however the more brief calls to the references is
the responsibility of the Interviewer (can make use of free minutes on cell
phones, etc.). BAR receives a large
amount of applications daily, and always needs help in this area---if you love
to talk about Boxers and rescue work, please volunteer!
Transports:
Help transport incoming dogs to their foster family.
May pick up dog directly from surrendering owner or shelter, if the
Transport begins with you. Transports
are broken down into “legs” of approximately 30-50 miles for each leg.
Transport routes are posted on the transport list, and all volunteers may
respond to an applicable posting (a request for drivers in your area).
We encourage all volunteers to help with transports when needed in your
state! These volunteers are supported by a Transport Director and assistants,
and emergency numbers are provided during all transports.

Manages Community Activities & related
committees & task forces to implement positioning and fundraising activities
(eBay, auctions, online store, product design and sales; pet store requests for
donations, BRADS & other activities within the community.)

Representatives: Volunteers needed to promote Bar in
local venues: free newspapers, brochures in pet stores & veterinarian
offices, and to coordinate local Boxer Expos in pet stores and other receptive
stores (Agway, feed stores, etc.).
Fundraisers:
Volunteers needed to
solicitations food and product donations for the Rescue from pet stores and
suppliers, and help with various local and on-line fundraisers.
Volunteer
Development: Communicators and Organizers
needed to create and implement activities that help volunteers across several
states get to know each other, work together, and stay involved in BAR: email
communications, snail mail communications, newsletters, get-togethers, special
committee work, volunteer recognition.

Department: Finances
Director of Finance: Gary Berg (savantgary@yahoo.com)
Monitors all income and expenses and
reports thereof; prepares annual budget; works with other departments in
business management advisory capacity on major expenditures and income
opportunities; seeks out and sets up accounts with vendors with whom BAR will
work; makes recommendations and assists in overall financial decisions and their
ramifications on the Rescue; sends out donation receipts to acknowledge tax
donations of $250 + as required by tax law; files for and maintains
not-for-profit status paperwork.
