2/27/08 - LI Zeus is pending adoption.

2/4/08 - Hi Everyone!  I'm sorry its been a while - but we have been busy around here!  Zeus has since made a liar out of me!  I think he went on here and read that he wasn't good with other dogs and wanted to prove me wrong!  He and Molly have been peacefully living together for a few days now!  Zeus had continued to jump the baby gate at will, so we figured we would make the extra effort to help them get along.  I won't say they are quite buddies jumping and boxing around the house - but they are certainly more than tolerant of each other. We, of course, still feed them separately, but other than that they are on their own around the house together.  It is really so nice not having to jump over baby gates and make sure they are getting equal quality time with us.  Now we can finally hang out all together in one room.  I won't leave them alone in the house if I'm not here - but Zeus really doesn't seem to mind the crate for a long nap anyway.
Zeus and I have gone on a few field trips together - he LOVES both walks and car rides.  I have discovered along the past week or so that is is excellent with children too.  He doesn't jump, push, or get agitated.  He simply sits when told, wiggles his tail, and waits for the OK to give kisses.  After that he is gentle and happy to be given the attention.
Our trip to the vet went OK.  He has a skin condition, basically acne, that he is on medication for.  That will clear up soon and is not a permanent thing anyway.  He does have a growth on his front paw that needs to be removed.  The vet said it is most likely just a cyst, but is best to be removed.  It doesn't bother him in any way at all.  You would never know it was there unless you pull his little toes apart!
Well, I can't believe Zeus hasn't been scooped up yet - it is just going to get harder and harder to let this big mush go!!  I would keep him myself, but I know there are so many other great, mushy, lovable boxers out there that need a temporary home before finding the perfect forever home like Zeus will.

1/22/08 - As Zeus continues to be an awesome companion, we have continually been trying to introduce he and
Molly to each other.  I wasn't expecting them to be 'buddies' but I was hoping they could get along.   Zeus gets VERY jealous when we play with Molly and not him.  He even went so far as to jump over the gate to make sure he was in on the fun.  I am still very confident in Zeus being an amazing family pet.  I have been letting him sleep in the living room (with the gates up) and he is much happier and content to sleep all night in there.  He was OK in the crate, but would whine and bark if he was in there longer than he liked.  Our neighbor stopped in with his 11 year old daughter the  other day - Zeus was a perfect gentleman.  He didn't jump or show any aggression towards them.  He welcomed them once we gave him the ok - he accepted treats and petting and gave plenty of wiggles.  We will be going to the vet on Thursday for his wellness visit.  I'll keep y'all posted!

1/19/08 - Hello!  Zeus continues to be a great dog!  There really isn't much to say because he is so perfect!!  He has a little bit of a cough that I'm hoping some antibiotics will clear up - but other than that things are really good.  I left him alone today for about an hour to see how he would do outside of his crate - perfect!  He didn't touch a thing - looked like he just hung out in his big bed and had a snooze!  Get your applications in for this big, lovable, sweetheart of a companion!  I can't say enough about how nice it is to have him around the house.

1/15/08 - Zeus is an awesome dog!  He is just a huge, handsome mush!  He is totally housebroken, doesn't go on furniture, knows sit, stay, paw, and down!  While he does tend to have selective hearing - he is really a smart boy who only wants to please. He likes to be kept company at all times.  When we let him out, he seems to want us right there and will run back if we walk away.  He also whines when we leave him gated up in the living room, but he will stop soon after and lay down on his bed to rest.  I am tempted to give him free run of the house, but that will come with time when I know him better and am positive he will not get himself into trouble.  He walks great on the leash,
although we are keeping it short and using the check collar. I am not sure how he is with other dogs because he and Molly, my 2 year old female, are a little skeptical about meeting each other.  We are working to slowly introduce them over the next week or so - I am hoping they get along because they really are two fantastic dogs with great boxer personalities.  We could have a great time with them hanging out around the house.
